Page 123 - Annual Catalogue - Playing with Patterns

Looking through our Annual Catalogue always gives you ideas to create some pretty simple but effective handmade cards.

Page 123 shows us how to use the In Good Taste DSP, so I have taken this idea to create a similar cards using the designer series paper - Playing with Patterms.

  1. Cut your card base from Purple Posy and the first layer from Highland Heather.  Run the Highland Heather piece through the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder and glue to the card front.
  2. Using the die cut piece from the Tasteful Labels Dies, cut six different pieces from the Playing with Patterns DSP.  Arrange them on your card front to create a please pattern.
  3. Stamp Happy Birthday onto Purple Posy cardstock and using another of the Tasteful Labels die to make a label.    Adhere to your card front with dimensionals.  Do the same of the small tag, in Highland Heather.
  4. Add your ribbon and a few of the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

I always add something to the inside of my cards and I never leave the envelope naked either!

Little Card - Peony Garden

Always scrolling through Pinterest looking for inspiration and this card came from that.

I've used the Prized Peony Stamp set and Peony Dies and the lovely scalloped edge die to create an interesting edge on the card.

You can put this together as well - following the photo and the details below:

  • Cut the scalloped edge in Whisper White and Petal Pink cardstock.  Cut a narrow strip of the DSP and glue to the right hand side, then the Petal Pink, then the Whisper White cardstock.
  • You can now judge how wide you need to cut the second piece of DSP.  Cut and glue that on top of the other pieces.
  • Stamp your Peony flower from the stamp set in Basic Gray onto Whisper White cardstock and lightly colour the flower using a dauber and Petal Pink Ink.  Cut this out using the die cuts.
  • Glue down your doily, to the righ of your card front.
  • Cut a label from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies in Petal Pink and using a few dimensionals on the back of both the label and the Peony flower adhered to the card front.
  • Stamp little card in Basic Gray to the bottom of the card and finish it off with some bling from the Elegant Faceted Gems set.

Now I'm not much of a colouring-in kind of person, but you could go all out on the Peony flower if you like.

I also add something to the inside of my cards and I never leave the envelope naked either!

Peony Garden - Trudy's 60th

 Hi everyone!

This year I turned 60 and who else but to make the card but myself.......

No actually I made this featured card for my friend but another friend Ian asked me to make my own birthday card .... that sounds funny but it gave me an opportunity to practice with the Peony Garden Suite, especially that very tricky peony flower!

How did I go!

Once you work out the four layers to the flower it is rather easy to put together.  Don't be put off from purchasing this lovely die set ...  it doesn't take much to put together!

The layers to this card consist of the DSP, square vellum doily;  the peony flower on top of the Tasteful Label die;  Shimmer ribbon under the flower and the leaves to the Peony flower tucked in under the label.

Add a few Elegant Faceted Gems to finish off.

Thank you for dropping by my blog.  Hope you find inspiration from the cards I post here!

Using Night of Navy and Misty Moonlight cardstock perfectly tones with the
blues in the DSP.
A little card ... stamp was just what was needed and the words MASSIVE Thank You!  from Massive Thanks Stamp set, finished off the inside of my card, along with the leaf stamp from the Tasteful Touches Stamp set.
THANKS from the Well Said Stamp set was embossed in white embossing powder and the Iridescent Pearls, with a little silver thread finished the card.

August Card Swaps - Peaceful Poppies

It's really hard to choose when the Designer Series Paper (DSP) has so many lovely prints.  The solution is to use a few on one card front!

The DSP is from the Peaceful Poppies range and unfortunately it has now retired.  I've been trying to use all my DSP up and to make some great cards along the way!

I've also used the Subtles Embossing folder.

In these cards I have used Blackberry Bliss, Smoky Slate;  Poppy Parade and Whisper White cardstock.

The Happy Birthday is from Many Mates Stamp set and I've used the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

These cards were sent to team members for their Birthday celebrations and Anniversary celebrations with Stampin' Up!

Using the great stamp sets from Stampin' Up! always makes for a great card!
